Foreword

When H.F Crowther Smith (‘Crowther’) produced this work in 1925, the ten players invited to contest the Championship Cup of the Croquet Association (forerunner of the President’s Cup) were commonly called the Best Ten. It is believed that Crowther completed the artwork during the tournament, added a title page, and had it bound shortly afterwards.

An irregular feature of the original work, which has been preserved in this facsimile, is the transposition, together with their captions, of the seventh and eight ranked players.
